Reverend Larry D. Malone

Reverend Larry Malone was born in Quitman, LA to Bernice Malone who passed away shortly after his birth. He was raised by his Aunt Carrie Malone with her children whom he considers his brother and sisters. His mother Carrie introduced him to religion at a young age, as he attended Bethany Baptist Church faithfully.


He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1957. Reverend Malone visited Yakima, WA a few times in high school to work on an apple orchard. After graduating, he returned permanently and married Dorothy Atkins of Bremerton, WA. They have four children together.


Reverend Malone was drafted into the United States Army in 1962 and served 23 years Active Duty. He served many tours such as Hawaii, Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. While active in the Army, he became a member of Sinclair Missionary Baptist Church in 1973. After retiring, he resided in Tacoma, WA with his wife until she passed in 2004. He has commuted from Tacoma to Bremerton almost every Sunday, many Saturdays, and even sometimes during the week since 1993.


He graduated from Clover Park Technical College in 1985 with a degree in Transportation Traffic Technology. He also went on to graduate from Evergreen State College in 1988 with a Bachelors of Arts and Science.


Reverend Malone has had the following responsibilities throughout the duration of his membership:

  • Deacon: 1993-1997
  • Laymen President: 1994-1998
  • Licensed to Minister: December 1998
  • Chairman of Pastoral Election
  • Chairman of Founders Day
  • Pastor's Associate Lead Minister



Minister Linda Harvey

Minister Linda Harvey, a native Washingtonian, grew up in Bremerton with her mother Verna Williams and stepfather Leroy Williams. She attended  all local schools in Bremerton and graduate from West High School in 1968. She was baptized at the age of nine, and then in December 1986, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Minister Harvey was employed with the Bremerton School District, retiring in 2002. She has one daughter, Joyce Johnson (Mark).


Minister Harvey enjoys singing, reading, witnessing and teaching the goodness of Jesus. She is actively involved in her church and community.


Under the Guidance of the Holy Spirit, Minister Harvey Organized the Following Ministries:

  •  1983 SMBC first Children’s Church
  •  Women’s’ Prayer Circle
  •  1987 Sister in Christ United Mountain Movers
  •  1994 SMBC Stepping Saints Drill Team

Minister Harvey answered the call into the Ministry March 2000 under the leadership of Reverend Earl E. Echols.

Her Past Contributions Include:

  •  2005 Secretary for Bremerton African American Ministerial Alliance (BAAMA)
  •  2007 - Present Ecumenical Action Officer - Church Women United for WA State
  •  2017 SMBC Sunday School Superintendent - Current

Minister Harvey’s favorite scripture “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper” Isaiah 54:17 (KJV) and her motto is “If I can help        somebody as I travel along, my living will not be in vain”.



Minister Ruth Jones

Minister Ruth Jones was born in Bremerton, Washington to the late Deacon Louis and Mildred Thomas. She attended schools in Port Orchard and graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1971. In 2008, she received her AA in Business Management and in 2010, she received her BS in Human Services. Minister Jones realizes it's never too late to pursue your education.


Minister Jones is the mother to 6 children--Simone, Catherine, Victoria, Abraham, Nyasha, and Malaika. She is the grandmother (MeMa) to 6 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. Minister Jones married Robert Lee Jones, Jr. on August 30, 2014.


Minister Jones released her first music CD, "Now Unto Him", in December 2014 and is working on her 2nd release. Minister Jones also retired in December 2014 after 22 years in the education field and is now a Substitute Teacher for the Bremerton School District.

Her hobbies include singing, writing music, reading, watching game shows, hosting family gatherings, and shopping.


Minister Jones was called into her Ministry at birth; however, she finally accepted her call in November 2008. She preached her first sermon, "Oh Lord I've Sinned, But You're Still Calling My Name!" in February 2009. As her children say, "She's been preaching to us all of our lives, now others get to hear her!"


When Minister Jones received the truth regarding the Scripture Ephesians 3:30--"Now Unto Him Who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we can ask or think according to the Power that works in us"--and then took God out of the box, her life has been all the more richer. She lives by the Word of God and knows that it's the Truth that makes her free and free, indeed. To God Be The Glory!!!!

Fellowship Groups
Groups were established to give membership an opportunity to gather outside of the Sunday Morning/Wednesday Bible Study setting. Each group has a leadership team (2 to 4 leaders). The group meets on the 4th Sunday of each month or as designated by group leaders with the Pastor’s approval. Group ​members are assigned an area closest to their residence.
